Initially, my
mother first spoke to me about genetically modified seeds in talking my ear off
with outrage after reading about the devastation such seeds had taken on
farmers in India. As a college student with a minor in environmental
studies, my best friend later spoke of the same issue and suggested a
documentary she liked. I eventually streamed the documentary on Netflix
and thereafter sought after and viewed all the food documentaries that were
available. I thoroughly enjoy documentaries, making and viewing
them. Informative visuals seem to hold my interest best and with a topic
that holds such a huge stake for others and myself, it was captivating.
In understanding the detrimental effects of genetically modified seeds I was
and still have a hard time grasping how it took so long to be informed and
knowledgeable about a technology that directly effects the population as a
whole. In turn it makes me wonder if the practice is a generally accepted
one or if others are simply uninformed, as I once was.
